Medical
Brigades

To develop an understanding of community needs and healthcare access, volunteers will be provided with introductions to Global Brigades’ Holistic Model and the medical program. For the majority of the Brigade, volunteers will then work with healthcare professionals during mobile medical clinics, providing assistance to hundreds of community members. 

STEM Brigades

STEM TeleSquads are an international collaboration to improve access to clean potable water in underserved communities in Honduras and Nicaragua. Each TeleSquad is a live case study of  engineering challenges in which students collaborate with our engineer to map out and design a full water system in rural communities. 

 

Business Brigades

Global Business Brigades is an international movement of university students and professionals building economic opportunities in the developing world. We work alongside promising entrepreneurs and experienced year-round staff to create financial opportunities in remote, rural, and under resourced areas of Honduras, Panama, Ghana, and Nicaragua.

Legal Empowerment Brigades

Global Legal Empowerment is an international movement of students and Panamanian & Honduran attorneys providing legal education and financial resources for vulnerable families to resolve legal challenges. We focus our work with women in remote, rural, and under resourced communities who would otherwise have limited to no access to legal resources.

Week 01
Sustainable Architecture +
Engineering 101

Sustainable Architecture will be introduced to the design strategies that reduce the negative environmental impact from a built environment.l Engineering 101 will This course is intended to introduce students to the field of engineering. It will expose students to the engineering disciplines through hands-on laboratory experiences.

Week 02
Eco-Sciences +
Coding

In Eco-Studies, students will get a background in environmental science situated in a broader understanding of cultural, political, and other key dimensions of environmental issues. Coding This course is designed for complete beginners to coding. You will be code-literate by the end and able to build front-end applications that can accept user input, interface with APIs, and cleanly present formatted data in a web interface.

Week 04
Medical Research +
Design

Medical Research students will gain more knowledge about illness and how the human body and mind work.  students will engage with questions about health in studies of an illness. Design will focus on  ideation to design to creation, working through a flow similar to what you’d find in an actual studio or company. You’ll bring your ideas to life  

Week 05
Entrepreneurship + Fashion

In Entrepreneurship, students  learn to apply entrepreneurial skills to social problems and design lasting solutions. We are looking for transformation and creating value. Fashion students will progressively develop the eye and skill to sketch and create our own ideas through a creative journaling process, culminating in an original design project based on historical elements.

Week 06
Data Design +
International Relations

Using open source programs such as Scalar, we explain how design thinking is applied to data science projects to build data products that are economically viable, desirable for the intended users, and technically feasible. International Relations will address the need to develop
global awareness, critical analysis of political developments, and the use of social science techniques to
understand events and developments around the world.

Week 07
Web Design +
Critical Race Theory

Web design is the art of planning and arranging content on a website so that it can be shared and accessed online with the world. Students will use Wix to create their own websites by the end of the week. Critical Race Theory students will seek to critically examine the law as it intersects with issues of race and to challenge mainstream liberal approaches to racial justice.

Week 08
Product Design +
Future of Content

Product Design students will bring together fields such as design, business, engineering, and research to ideate, design and create solutions. The future of media & entertainment
will offer a world of opportunities,
but the transformation will require
substantial steps and boldness. The
industry needs to be open to new
insights instead of being mentally
closed by existing ones. Students will explore the future of content.
