Pathways in Engineering & Computers

Students that pursue engineering find themselves immersed in creativity, science, technology, and problem-solving. Engineering demands a solid foundation in science, math, engineering technology, and computing. Prospective engineers can foresee themselves inventing, designing, analyzing, building and testing machines (or computational structures), complex systems, algorithms and data structures, structures and materials to fulfill functional objectives and requirements while considering the limitations imposed by practicality, regulation, safety and cost.

THE GPA DIFFERENCE

How will GPA support my pursuit for this pathway?

These growth industries are essential to our global futures. We now stand at the precipice of many next-generation innovations, from making self-driving cars safer on the roads, to using AI to detect Alzheimer’s and other disorders, to developing systems for more sustainable farming. We work with students to create projects that are innovative and solvent.

COLLEGES & PROGRAMS

Where should I study?

GPA alumni earned acceptance to Vagelos Integrated Program in Energy Research at UPenn, Viterbi at USC, and Computational Media at Georgia Tech. First, everyone should know these are the most competitive programs in higher education, so you must be fully prepared to even apply. Second, we work with each student have them compete with the students from private boarding schools.

University of Pennsylvania, home to several top 10 engineering programs in the country.

CONCENTRATION IN
Aerospace, Aeronautical and Space

This ever-growing field features the design and operation of air and spacecraft, including the intricacies of how flight works.

CONCENTRATION IN
Architectural Engineering

The application of engineering principles to building construction and design. Students learn how to develop the systems that allow people to live and work in these structures.

CONCENTRATION IN
Biomedical Engineering

Apply engineering principles and technology to the field of medicine, creating new and improved medical treatments for patients. Tissue engineering, while also considered a specialization within biotechnology, is one such example of biomedical engineering in action.

CONCENTRATION IN
Ceramic Engineering

Designing and creating objects from inorganic, non-metallic materials. The process generally includes the purification of raw materials, the production of compounds, their formation into components, and the study of their composition, properties and structure.

CONCENTRATION IN
Civil Engineering

Deals primarily with the design, construction and maintenance of bridges, roads, canals, and the like. As a point of interest, this engineering discipline was enshrined to distinguish itself from military engineering. It is considered the second-oldest discipline, after military.

CONCENTRATION IN
Computer Engineer

For the student that seeks a dynamic and entrepreneurial working environment in order to have a revolutionary impact on the economy and society. Potential careers include: Network Systems, Information Support and Service, Web and Digital Communications, Programming and Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Systems Analysis

CONCENTRATION IN
Computer Engineering

Combines computer science and electronic engineering. Computer engineers design both computer software and computer hardware, in addition to developing solutions for the integration of the two.

CONCENTRATION IN
Data Processing and Technology

For the student who seeks to use of computers to perform defined operations on data. Potential careers include: Data Entry/ Microcomputer Applications, Data Modeling/Warehousing

CONCENTRATION IN
Electrical Engineering

The study and application of electromagnetism, electronics, and electricity. It's a broad-based discipline that encompasses the design and implementation of various electronic / electrical systems such as circuits, generators, motors, and transformers.

CONCENTRATION IN
Game + Interactive Tech Design

Students interested in exploring and expanding how people engage with computers and other immersive media technologies. Potential careers include: Video Game Design, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Artificial Intelligence

CONCENTRATION IN
Industrial Engineering

Development and ongoing improvement of integrated systems. Industrial engineers seek to minimize waste and maximize efficiency by tweaking current production systems.

CONCENTRATION IN
Manufacturing Engineering

Deals almost exclusively with the design and maintenance of different manufacturing processes, tools, equipment and machines. Lean manufacturing principles are one such example of scientific manufacturing in action.

CONCENTRATION IN
Material Engineering

Concerned with the properties of matter and its application to science and technology. This generally refers to the study of the structure of materials at the molecular level, and includes elements of applied physics and chemistry. Nanotechnology is one such example of materials engineering in action.

CONCENTRATION IN
Mechanical Engineering

Primarily concerned with the design, production and use of tools and machines. Mechanical engineers are the inventors and builders of the machines that will shape our future.

CONCENTRATION IN
Web/Mobile App Development

For the student that immerses themselves in various program languages in order to develop usable applications.
